Working with industry allies

HINJ works closely with the life sciences industry’s national trade associations, and has cultivated strong working relationships with other state-based life sciences trade associations across the country to support the industry’s policy positions and programming on a national basis.

This network facilitates the exchange of best practices to benefit our industry’s collective goals and facilitates collaborations and resource pooling that amplifies the impact of each individual trade association’s activities.

Innovative programming

A nimble organization that can quickly pilot new initiatives, HINJ is known as an incubator for successfully pioneering innovative programs to expand the life sciences industry’s footprint and reinforce its value to policymakers, patients and other stakeholders.  Examples include:

  • Innovation New Jersey (INJ) — INJ is a coalition of more than 120 industry associations, businesses, higher education institutions and state government agencies dedicated to promoting policies that foster New Jersey’s “innovation ecosystem.” Founded in 2010, INJ’s goals include encouraging greater industry-higher education collaboration, increasing private and public-sector R&D, stimulating economic growth, retaining and advancing high-paying innovation-related jobs, and increasing the number of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)-related graduates from state colleges and universities.
  • Mayors Committee on Life Sciences — Founded in 2010 in collaboration with the New Jersey League of Municipalities, the Committee works to promote economic development and innovation, and educate legislators, policymakers and the public about the importance of the life sciences industry to New Jersey, especially its local communities, and benchmarks best practices within communities that host a life sciences facility.
