New Brunswick, NJ, August 14, 2014 ― The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) will honor meritorious leadership in and contributions to New Jersey’s life sciences community at its 2014 Life Sciences Celebration.
The event will be held Wednesday, October 8 at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
HINJ’s 2014 honorees will be:
- The Honorable Bob Franks Public Service Award: The Honorable Rush Holt, United States Representative, New Jersey (CD 12)
- Research: Joachim Kohn, Ph.D., FBSE, Director, New Jersey Center for Biomaterials, Board of Governors Professor of Chemistry, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
- STEM Education: Students 2 Science, Inc.
- Patient Advocacy: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society New Jersey Chapter
HINJ’s special evening also will feature Ethan Zohn, CBS “Survivor” winner, cancer crusher and humanitarian.
At its inaugural Life Sciences Celebration, which was held September 25, 2013, HINJ recognized former Governor Thomas H. Kean; the late United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg; Rutgers’ Dr. Christopher J. Molloy; Dr. Joseph R. Bertino of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Stem Cell Institute of New Jersey; Dr. Debra L. Wentz of New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies; and Biotechnology High School.
At the 2013 Celebration, HINJ was pleased to host three former New Jersey Governors. In addition to honoree Governor Kean, Governor Brendan Byrne and Governor James Florio attended the event.
