HINJ Statement on the Medical Device Excise Tax Repeal

HINJ President and Chief Executive Officer Dean J. Paranicas has issued the following statement about the full repeal of the medical device excise tax:

“Patients, health care providers and the nearly 24,000 people who work for the medical technology sector in New Jersey will benefit from the decision by Congress to fully repeal the medical device excise tax.

“The repeal of this onerous tax prevents critical resources from being diverted away from the research and development (R&D) efforts that produce innovative, life-saving medical technologies, adversely affecting the patient community and advances in global human health. Repeal also protects New Jersey’s workforce and economy and our innovation ecosystem.

“HINJ commends this bipartisan action and recognizes the strong leadership of New Jersey’s Congressional Delegation, which was instrumental in this victory for patients.”
