HINJ Sponsors New Jersey State Society’s Inaugural Gala in Washington, DC

New Brunswick, January 21, 2013 — The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) was proud to contribute to the success of the New Jersey State Society’s Garden State Inaugural Gala by serving as the principal sponsor for the event, which was held Sunday evening at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, DC.

The gala, which the State Society hosts quadrennially, was held in celebration of the second inauguration of President Barack H. Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden.  The event’s honorary chairs were New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie.

Joining HINJ as sponsors of the event, which drew approximately 750 attendees, were HINJ member companies Bayer HealthCare LLC and BD.

The New Jersey State Society selected the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, founded by Governor and Mrs. Christie, as the event’s official charitable organization.  The proceeds of several event activities will go to the fund, which has been established to rebuild New Jersey.

“HINJ was proud to be the lead sponsor of the State Society’s Inaugural Gala, which provided New Jerseyans with the opportunity to celebrate together the inauguration of our President and Vice President and showcase New Jersey’s contributions to the nation,” said HINJ President and Chief Executive Officer Dean J. Paranicas.  “Sunday night’s event was all the more meaningful in light of our citizens’ spirited response to the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.”

“HINJ and its member companies, which represent the largest concentration of research-based biopharmaceutical and medical technology companies in the world, welcomed the opportunity to sponsor this special event on behalf of the people of New Jersey,” Paranicas added.  “HINJ member companies have deep roots in the New Jersey community and are proud to partner with such an esteemed organization for such a worthwhile cause.”

Responding to the needs of people and communities throughout New Jersey and the region impacted by Superstorm Sandy, Paranicas noted that HINJ member companies have donated, to date, approximately $11.1 million in cash contributions and product donations.  This figure does not include employee contributions or company matching-gift programs.
