Trenton, January 21, 2026 ― Chrissy Buteas, President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey, released the following statement concerning New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill’s Executive Order #5 regarding permitting:

“New Jersey today took a significant step in strengthening our innovation economy as Governor Mikie Sherrill signed Executive Order #5, reinforcing the state’s commitment to growth, investment, and competitiveness across key industries.  We look forward to working with the Sherrill Administration on leveraging New Jersey’s deep talent pool, world-class academic and research institutions, our renowned building and construction trades, and our global leadership in life sciences.”

Buteas continued, “Other states have been working overtime to entice New Jersey companies to relocate, or to build their new facilities elsewhere.  This executive order sends a strong signal that New Jersey will work to improve our business climate to attract new construction and investment by the very companies that are shaping the research, development and advanced manufacturing that is the future of American healthcare.”

Buteas concluded, “Governor Sherrill’s action builds on New Jersey’s legacy as a global leader in life sciences and innovation, while laying the groundwork for the next generation of discovery, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, and New Jersey jobs.”
