HealthCare Institute of New Jersey Statement on Change to Vaccine Policy

Trenton, December 5, 2025 ― Chrissy Buteas, President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey, released the following statement concerning the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) change to hepatitis B vaccine policy recommendations.

“Hepatitis B is one of the more devastating and expensive – but most easily preventable – diseases confronting people around the world, and vaccines remain one of humanity’s most critical defenses against deadly viral and bacterial infections.  Many diseases and viruses that used to ravage and destabilize societies, economies and nations have been tamed or even eradicated by the safe and informed use of vaccines.

Buteas continued, “Society vaccinates against smallpox, rabies, polio, tetanus, malaria, HVP, hepatitis, shingles, the RSV virus and many other conditions, and New Jersey’s life sciences have been the cornerstone of that life-saving effort for nearly 150 years.  We will work with all stakeholders – from patient groups and medical professionals to federal and state regulatory agencies – to continue serving as a pillar of our modern public health system.”
