HealthCare Institute of New Jersey Statement on Biomarker Testing Law

Trenton, April 23, 2025 ― Chrissy Buteas, President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ), released the following statement concerning today’s signing into law of the state legislature’s biomarker testing bill, A4163/S3098, by Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way.

“New Jersey’s life sciences community applauds today’s enactment of this important legislation, which requires insurers to cover biomarker testing, allowing patients and medical providers to more easily diagnose medical conditions at much earlier stages.”

Buteas continued, “The earlier a patient’s medical diagnosis is made, the better the outcome.  New Jersey’s life sciences community has innovated this advanced biomarker technology, and today’s enactment reduces yet another barrier to patient care.  This not only helps patients and their caregivers, but it also saves money elsewhere in the healthcare system.  We thank the bill’s tireless sponsors and advocates who worked so diligently to expand access and improve patient outcomes.”
