A Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

HINJ Members’ DEI Activities

The life sciences industry has historically been a leader in reshaping corporate culture to address emerging social, governance and workplace trends that reflect the evolution of societal standards.  It requires rethinking much of how business has long been conducted and embracing new approaches, which is at the core of what Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) represents.

As much of the corporate world seeks to fundamentally and permanently transform their fabric and culture to reflect more fully and equitably our society and shared values, New Jersey’s life sciences community is setting an example in the growing universe of DEI initiatives intended to achieve these objectives and expand opportunities in administration, research and development, manufacturing, the supply chain and in the communities they serve.

An industry with so noble a calling as ours – to improve patients’ quality of life – continues to meet this challenge as it has met others so often in the past.  HINJ member companies have launched a broad range of DEI programs, such as committing significant resources toward achieving a more vibrant and inclusive workplace that incorporates the diversity of our communities, developing mentoring programs for businesses to create a more diverse supply chain, as well as addressing health inequities and disparities to expand access to health care to patients around the world.

These efforts are taking many forms that are benefiting recruitment, attitudes, organizational structures, internal and external relationships in our industry, and, ultimately, patients.  This is an ongoing, dynamic, evolving – and exciting – process.  Follow the HINJ member companies’ progress as it unfolds through the links below to their DEI portals.
