Trenton, August 31, 2026 ― Chrissy Buteas, President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ – www.hinj.org), released the following statement concerning today’s White House announcement of additional drug pricing agreements:
“New Jersey’s and America’s life sciences are committed to lowering costs and expanding access to medicines for patients across the country. Today’s voluntary agreements show that there are ways to reduce costs for patients without jeopardizing the research, discovery, and development of tomorrow’s life-saving treatments and cures.”
Buteas continued, “New Jersey’s life sciences work with multiple stakeholders in Washington and Trenton to find responsible ways to lower costs while continuing to invest in American innovation. Voluntary agreements recognize the value of a company’s extraordinary research investments and expertise in specific therapeutic portfolios in ways that mandatory, government-imposed price controls cannot.”
Buteas concluded, “As the ‘Medicine Chest of the World,” New Jersey companies are working every day to discover new treatments for patients. We will continue working with the White House, policymakers, and patients to find sustainable ways to lower costs without jeopardizing America’s innovation leadership and the future cures that patients are counting on.”
